The brooch, with its vivid red ruby inlay, boasts a depth of colour that has been built up over eons, composed of layers of gathered and pressed materials that create a captivating glow, the stone’s rich hue reminiscent of a sunlit desert landscapes, where the warmth of the earth meets the cool luminosity of the sky. Inspired by the skeletal remains of the rugged, textured bark of a Joshua tree, the broach uses Indian jaali work, a dance of delicate lattice design across the surface/ arrangement/ surface to capture the perforated, twisting outstrehced once creamy white blossom filled branches.
